bits of autumn

the thought of autumn brings a tingle of excitement--rakes and crunching leaves. pumpkin and hot tea. geese and wispy clouds. jeans and leather boots. pea coats and flats. as the air begins to turn cooler i'm shaking out my warmer cloths and dreaming up fun fall outfits. 

i LOVE the flats-very unique. the neutrals with red and a pop of gray-blue are gorgeous and simple for autumn.

this may be my favorite outfit idea that i've created. it makes me happy. : )

this isn't exactly autumn related. but bed-room accessories are always inspiring.
i love that clock... you can change out the pictures in it. so fun.
i'm also really loving different glass bottles as decorative storage. [what about storing paints and paint brushes in them to display?]
the poster is so colorful and happy.
a bedroom wouldn't be complete without a fun pair of earrings.
and i love the owls. : ) a bit fall-ish but cheerful.

my assignment this week was to take an inspiration image. my teacher wanted us to think about each picture that we took and think about what drew us to that scene. i was only allowed to pick one photo from my shoots this past week to turn in for the assignment. it was sooo hard, but i decided on the last shot in this post. enjoy.

last drops of summer.

the calendar flipped from august to september a bit ago... and the last days of summer are slipping away like a handful of sand. but i was having fun creating outfits one night, and i wanted to make a summer outfit to share before autumn is here to stay. so here's to remembering your happy summer vacation and no school and sparkling lakes and flip-flops and coke slushies and road trips and dripping heat and ping-pong laughter and starry nights.

home of the free... because of the brave.

thinking back 10 years... standing in the living room watching first 1 then 2 towers go up in smoke... crying with my mom...  seeing the giant plums of smoke and ash and debris cover american soil... trying to comprehend the tragedy in my 7 year old mind... i remember so vividly.
i thank God for the brave men and women in new york that day who sacrificed their lives to rescue others.
and i thank God for the brave men and women today who sacrifice their lives to keep me safe.

i'm happy about...

::a fun country fair with friends.

::a four-day rest from volleyball.

::playing music for church with a friend. perhaps my favorite form of worship.
